These pots traveled north across the Gulf of Alaska with Mike in May 2019 and were fished in the northern Prince William Sound areas around Fairmont and Granite Bay. Unfortunately, the commercial fishery closed early so the trip was limited to personal use catch. The trip was not great for fishing, but it was a long-awaited opportunity to visit with old friends and family in the Valdez area.
Mike is an experienced shrimper from his days fishing in Prince William Sound on his boat F/V Illahee back in the '80s:
